PRI and AI Debut New State Binder Specification DatabaseTampa – PRI Asphalt Technologies and the Asphalt Institute have collaborated to develop a new state binder specification database. Available on the web at: State Binder Specifications as downloadable PDF files, each document summarizes the binder specifications for particular asphalt binder by agency. All 50 state highway agencies and several additional agencies are available on the site. A standardized format is used to list specification test methods and criteria, PG-plus tests and requirements, typical grades, exclusions, and the web site of the originating agency where the specification can be found. This database should be useful to the industry, especially to companies who provide asphalt binders, products or services to multiple states. This database provides a central site to find state specifications in one place as opposed to searching each state web page for the link to the particular state binder specification. PRI and AI will periodically contact the binder or materials engineer listed on each document to review the agency’s information for accuracy. Corrections or comments may be emailed to AI by using the form provided on the web page. Changes will only be made after confirmation by the responsible person listed for that agency. While care has been taken to provide accurate and current information, users are advised that there may be inaccuracies and recent specification revisions which may not been added to the web site.
