Our state-of-the-art laboratory provides technical services to the asphalt paving industry worldwide in more than 30 foreign countries and all fifty states. We have the ability to test and evaluate a vast assortment of raw materials, modifiers, additives and additional products and materials.
With a combined total of more than 200 years’ experience, our certified technicians, engineers and other professionals are trained in well over 500 federal, state, ASTM, AASHTO, and FAA testing protocols as well as foreign test methods. All testing and evaluations are performed in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, EN, GOST and/or other agencies’ guidelines.
PRI maintains active accreditations with NIST/AASHTO/AMRL/AAP and is an ISO / IEC 17025 laboratory for binders, emulsions, cutbacks, aggregates, soils and asphalt paving mixes. Our technical staff maintains certifications through NICET, NETTCP, AI’s National Binder Technician Certification Program and others required by local specifications.
PRI was the first independent laboratory accredited for Superpave™ binder and mix.
To assure quality and continuity of test results PRI routinely participates in proficiency sample testing programs conducted by AMRL, Western States Co-Op, WIS DOT, and various States; our results are always available upon request. In addition, PRI participates in intercompany round-robin testing programs administered by PRI clients, as well as ETG and other associations’ round robins for emerging test methods, equipment or general ruggedness.
PRI leads the industry in offering the widest array of testing and evaluation protocols available, including cutting-edge methods developed in our own laboratory, such as the APWS (Asphalt Pavement Weathering System), Reflective Crack Resistance, Wear Resistance for Pavement Sealers and others. We continually add new testing protocols as they are developed and adopted by the asphalt industry and our own professional staff.
